Robert John Preston Sr.

Robert John Preston Sr., passed away November 10, 2023, age 76.

Beloved husband of Judith. Loving father of Carmen (Patrick) Dean, Jennifer Boyd, and Robert (Amanda) Preston Jr. Caring grandfather of Keaton Dean, Emily Boyd, Jamieson Dean, and Shaun Boyd. Son of the late John and Marie Preston. Dear brother of Patricia Quenneville and the late Gerald Preston.

Bob was born in Detroit and graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1965. He went on to attend Wayne State University School of Pharmacy.

While working at his parent's store, Preston's Patent Medicine, he met Judy, who was working next door at her parent's bakery and deli, The Polka Pantry.

Bob and Judy married in 1971, and Bob began working at Cunningham Drugs. Over the years, Bob made his living in many customer service roles, and always loved retail management.

He worked for Perry Drugs and Rite Aid, Forest City and Builders Square, and eventually returned to the family business to run Preston's with his brother Gerry.

He built the Patent Medicine store into Preston's Pharmacy, which had many successful years.

Bob loved managing the ½ Off Card Shop, building store displays, playscapes, and outdoor furniture for Cortland Associates, and managing the seasonal inventory of Party City, where he eventually retired from.
If you were lucky enough to grab a shot of Canadian Club or a Miller High Life with Bob, he could talk for hours about his Olds 442, or his waterskiing days at his family's cottage on Lake Saint Clair.

In his later years, 'Builder' Bob loved to tinker in his garage, work in his garden, and enjoy a good steak and baked potato.

Visitation Wednesday, November 15, 2023 from 1:00pm to 8:00pm with Prayers at 7:00pm at Bagnasco & Calcaterra Funeral Home, 13650 E. Fifteen Mile, Sterling Heights, Michigan.

Funeral Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 10:00am with Visitation at 9:00am at the funeral home.
