Nora Simon Satrun 76, of St. Clair Shores passed away suddenly on September 18, 2020.
She was born to the late Florence and Mitchell Simon in Detroit, MI. She graduated from Dominican High School and went on to study at Michigan State University.
Nora married the late Stuart Satrun Jr at St Clare of Montefalco in Grosse Pointe, Mi.
Nora was among the first women staff journalists at the Detroit Free Press. She achieved much success at writing and continued on as a hobby and freelance writer. She could be found sitting at her computer working on short stories about adventures featuring her grandchildren. Nora always rooted for the underdog. Her sense of humor came through in the short stories she wrote in her free time. She will be sorely missed.
Nora was a loving mother to Stuart Satrun III, Nicole (Jay) Williams, Brian Satrun, and Renee (James) Ansell. Nora was a cherished grandmother to: Madden, Liam, Brayden, Macy, Alexander, Remington, Evangeline, and Reese. Dear sister to Mitchell (Peggy) SImon, John (Millie) Simon, Mary Joe Simon, Joesph (Karen) Simon, Steven (Margie) Simon, Patricia (Roland) Vandenbroeck, Nancy Dunn, and Pamela Grant. Predeceased by brothers, Mark Simon, Jeffery Simon, and Gregory Simon.
There will be a visitation at Bagnasco & Calcaterra Funeral Home on Harper in St. Clair Shores on Sunday, September 27th from 4pm to 8pm. Mass will be held at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in St. Clair Shores the following day, Monday at 10am.
