Nina Killmer
August 23, 1945 ~ April 1, 2021 (age 75) 75 Years Old

Nina Killmer, age 75 of Harper Woods, April 1, 2021.
Nina was the beloved wife of Lawrence Killmer for 53 years. Loving mother of Corrine (Anthony) Hallam, Kenneth (Gina) and Jeanette (Rich Stiltner). Grandmother of Shana (David) Bonkosky, Anthony, Lawrence, Anna, Pearl, Eva, Leia, Isabella and Lily. Great-Grandmother to Remington, Josephine and Kenneth. Daughter of the late Nicholas and Beatrice Marchenia. Dear Sister of Gary (Pat) Marchenia, Nancy ( the late William) Stevens, George (Jan) Marchenia and the late Loretta (John) Zalewski, Sylvia Marchenia, Gregory (Rosanne) Marchenia, David (Joan) Marchenia and Nicholas Marchenia. She is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In 1967, she caught the eye of a young Larry, who was returning a pair of Levis at Sears in customer service. Soon after, they reconnected at The Bachelor Club on Eight Mile and Gratiot. He was smitten with her polka skills and her natural ability with people. In 1968, they wed and were blessed with three children.
Lawrence and Nina started their journey as a married couple purchasing the kitchen table that still remains and was a cornerstone of family, friends and their lives. She got ready at this very table, entertained and delivered words of wisdom to those she loved.
Nina loved to entertain. She carried on the spark her mother had for getting family together on the weekend for good food, card games and beer. Nina had a way with people. She had a unique ability to get a stranger to feel comfortable enough, divulging their entire life story in 10 minutes. She was always present in her loved one’s lives. She never missed a rehearsal, recital or sporting event. Those who knew her best would have received wise counsel at her kitchen table.
Memorial Mass is scheduled for 10am on April 9, 2021 at St. Basil Church on the corner of Nine Mile Rd. and Lexington. Also, there will be a Memorial “Celebration” of Nina’s life in August 2021 -- details will be forthcoming.
Please direct sympathies and flowers to the family residence or St. Basil’s.
