Leona Celestina Young

Leona Celestina Young, age 73, passed away on May 20th, 2021 at Ascension St. John Hospital in Detroit. She was born on October 3, 1947 in Detroit, the daughter of Sam and Celestina Furnari. With her Italian background Leona had a great passion for cooking and baking continually finding new recipes to share with family and friends. She was a hard worker no matter the project big or small. Her kind heart and genuine smile will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Beloved wife of the late John. Dear mother of the late Wayne Weier . Grandmother of Taylor Lee Weier-Rhodes and seven step children John E. (Lynn) Young, Carolyn (The late Thomas) Sucaet, Cindy (Michael) Gorecki, Joseph (Tricia) Young, Cathy Young Tucker, James (Kim) Young and the late Jeffrey Young. She was also survived by 19 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Sister of Joseph (Kathy) Furnari and the late Vito Furnari and a dear aunt Angeline Garofalo along with her nieces, nephews and many cousins. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 25th from 10 am until 1 pm at the Bagnasco & Calcaterra Funeral Home, 25800 Harper , (Three blocks north of 10 Mile Road), St. Clair Shores. A funeral mass will be held 1:30pm at St. Isaac Jogues Church, 21100 Madison in St. Clair Shores.
