Joan E. Linden

Joan E. Linden, age 91, a long-time resident of Algonac and parishioner of Immaculate Conception Parish, Ira, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2021. Joan was born on October 26, 1929 in Hamtramck, the daughter of Michael and Helen Tiza. Beloved wife of the late Helmut for nearly 68 years, loving mother of Joseph, Mary (Ronald) Garofalo, Michael (Sharon) and Anne (Richard A.) Krus. Grandmother of Kristy, Richard J., Keith, Alyse, Erica, Lauren, Michael, Andrea, Alexandria and Craig. Great Grandmother of 12.
Joan spent her childhood in Detroit, attended grade school at St. Cyril and Methodius and graduated from St. Anthony High School in 1947. She went to work at Fruehauf as an executive secretary and later married Helmut in 1951. Joan taught religious education and served on the Altar Society at St. Peter Catholic Church in Harper Woods.
Later when her youngest child went to school, Joan attended Wayne State University earning a Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Education (1983) and was a member of the Delta Phi Epsilon. Joan was a business education teacher employed at Lutheran High East and Cardinal Mooney High School.
Joan enjoyed camping with their children and grandchildren, boating, golfing and traveling with Helmut.
Visitation Monday, March 22, 2021, from 4 - 8 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Bagnasco & Calcaterra Funeral Home, 25800 Harper Avenue, St. Clair Shores. Funeral, Tuesday, March 23, 2021, 10:00 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Church, 21620 Greater Mack Ave, St. Clair Shores.
The Funeral Mass will be Live streamed at St. Joan of Arc at the following link Livestream.stjoan.church.
Funeral Service will conclude after the Funeral Mass at church.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen.
