CHOWNS, James A., October 14, 2018, Age 84 of Shelby Township. Loving husband of Jeanetta (Nee Estes), dearest father of Kathleen Soper, Kim Whiting, and Karla Wichtner, step-father of Angel (Mark) Travis, Branson Peacock, and Clint (Marie) Peacock, proud grandfather of Cassandra (Brian) Simcox, Mary (Brian) Peasley, James (Dena) Whiting, Joanne Whiting, Matthew Wichtner and Taylor Wichtner, step-grandfather of Carter Peacock, Kailyn Peacock, Jaidyn Peacock, Addison Peacock, Grayson Peacock and Jameson Peacock, great-grandfather of Kyler Simcox, Amber Sutton, Waylon Whiting, and Wren Whiting, great great-grandfather of Faith Rakus. James is also survived by his sister Sue Jones and nephew Christopher Jones and nieces Michelle Jones and Shannon Jones. James was predeceased by his great-grandson Aric Sutton and parents William and Agatha Chowns.

Jim was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, a lifetime member of the North Macomb Sportsmen Club where he shot in numerous leagues including black powder and trap as well as being lifelong artist – drawing, painting, and most notably his detailed scrimshaw.

A funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday October 18th at 2:00 PM at the Bagnasco & Calcaterra Funeral Home, 13650 E. Fifteen Mile Road, Sterling Heights with Pastor Chris Zarbourgh officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday October 17th from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Thursday from 2:30 PM until 6:00 PM.

An inurnment will take place privately at Christian Memorial Cemetery, Rochester Hills.
