Gerry’s professional career included selling real estate while her children were growing up and then her time as the Director of Food and Disaster Service for the American Red Cross. While there, she was the recipient of the “Partnership Award” for her work with volunteers.

She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, baking, cooking, sewing and crafts.
Her musical talents started at an early age, she enjoyed being a member of her grade school marching band (St. Hyacinth’s), playing the violin and singing in the choir in high school. Gerry shared her beautiful voice with family, friends and loved singing at church. She recorded a CD of her favorite Christian songs “Thank you Lord” as a gift to her family.

Gerry’s legacy to family and friends was to pray, listen, provide hope and encouragement through God’s mercy. During her childhood, her Catholic faith was built upon a strong foundation and she frequently visited the Capuchin monastery with her mother. It was at the monastery, where she met Fr. Solanus Casey and received special blessings. Gerry was a volunteer in many church activities, served as President of the Parish Council and chaired the St. Basil Church Renovation committee.

Gerry wrote notes of inspiration and had her favorite “Gerryisms” that she would share on telephone calls, emails and yes even text messaging. These included, Miracles never Cease, Put it in God’s hands, God Bless, Don’t worry, everything will be fine; I have been blessed, Now be nice, Have faith in the Good Lord, Sleep on it, everything will be better in the morning, It goes in one ear and out the other, God will be with you, We’ll see what the day brings and always ended with I love you.
