Tribute

Ernesto Polsinelli passed away and went to be with the Lord on September 30, 2022 at the age of 87.

Loving Father of Gabriella (Emilio) Benacquista, Rita (Sean) Walker, Maria Anna Polsinelli, Cristina (Mark) Marzolf. Loving Grandfather of Laura (Justin), David, Juliana (Trever), Alexandra, Sean, Ava & Marko. Loving Great-grandfather of Ariana, Giovanni & Valentino.

Ernesto was born in Broccostella, (the Frosinone province) Italy to Luigi & Vincenza Polsinelli on November 5, 1934. He was the third born of eight siblings; Santina, Domenica (deceased), Donata, Vittorio, Lucia (deceased) Ida, and Anna. As a family, they immigrated to the United States and settled in Detroit, Michigan. Ernesto was extremely proud of becoming an American citizen. He pursued the American dream while successfully landing a respectful job at General Motors and worked there for thirty plus years. Ernesto was a skilled brick and stone mason. He mentored many family members, co-workers, and apprentices and taught them his spectacular masonry skills. Thereafter, he married Angela (deceased) and they were married for almost twenty-two years. They had three daughters during that time.

His hobbies were bowling, coin collecting, pheasant and rabbit hunting, gardening, watching old western films and scratching lottery tickets. Ernesto was super competitive and enjoyed a good game of bocce ball and playing cards. He loved to cook, grill and eat his own delicious food. Ernesto adored spending quality time with family and friends. In addition, he loved nature, animals and the outdoors. His favorite season was Summer and his favorite holiday was the Fourth of July. Every August he took a day trip to Carey, Ohio to attend Mass at Our Lady of Consolation Church and do the Stations of the Cross.

His pride and joy were his grandkids and great grandkids and he especially loved when they’d come to visit him in his self-built home. Ernesto had a smile that lit up a room. He was a child at heart. He had eyes as crystal clear and beautiful as the ocean. He had great Italian genes. Then, as he aged, he fought his ailments and illnesses with bravery and courage. As his independence diminished and he needed to depend on others for help, he NEVER missed an opportunity to thank someone for their kindness and assistance. He had strong faith and trust in our Lord which made him a humble, strong and loving man.

May eternal rest be granted upon you.
