I remember Greg getting his first boat we worked together at Chatham’s. I talked to him on occasion just about every holiday. I will tell you he was loyal to his friends. I am so sorry for your loss he was a great guy and friend. Bless you all

Although we only knew Greg and his family when we were younger spending summers on Green Island on the middle channel we were sad to hear of his passing. After his Dad, Roy bought the cottage from my Dad ( Walter ) our lives went in different directions. Watching the video tribute brought back many great memories when we were all younger. I am pleased that Greg and his family got to enjoy many years at the Saint Clair Flats. Our Sincere Condolences, Ross Family.

I have known Greg most of my life from the time they bought my uncle's Cottage on the island. We were just kids then, and though he was a little older than me we had some good times growing up on that island. We've had our difficult times also, as many as of us have. He was a good guy who took care of his boat like no one I've ever seen. Pop a Top had to be the best looking older boat that I have ever seen, it was his baby. I'll never forget the singing, and the Black Label beer, the nights at Brown's bar, and the bonfires by the water. Greg will be missed. Rest in peace buddy.

Words cannot express the sadness that I feel for the loss of my Uncle! He was a bit of a pain at times and I mean that in the most loving way possible. There was a lot of good to him; he had a very witty funny sense of humor and he was the first to help out somebody in need! I have many Great memories as a child and as a young adult spending time with him at the cottage and at family get togethers. Some of my best times of my life where with my Uncle and his wife Fran. We were extremely close when I was younger and I'll never forget the things he's done for me. We had a special bond and I think I understood him more than most. He will always have a special place in my heart. Even with this heavy sorrow I am very glad he is at peace And no longer suffering! I am very thankful he is with his parents and his wife, Fran again (causing trouble I'm sure). My deepest condolences to my little cousins Mandy and Ryan. This will be a very difficult time but I hope and pray you hold onto the good memories. I love you both very much!

Things that remind me of my uncle:

The song "pop a top".
Black label beer.
Parliament cigarettes.
The love for all of his dogs; treated them like humans (Figo, Barry, Travis, Chipper).
The comb in his back pocket.
His hair always had to look perfect.
The great way he laughed when something was funny.
His one eye shut when he was drinking.
Peanut butter toast.
Waking Kim and I up at the cottage at 2:00 in the morning.
Parties in his basement.
He loved watching sunsets.
His love for the water.
I always felt safe with him on a boat. One of the best photos I know.
He always let us kids drive his boat.
We always made him do big circles on his boat.
He always said he loved us at the end of a conversation even if it was good or bad.
He always bought my sister and I animals my mom never wanted but we did.
His insane organizational skills.
Is "pop top" jacket.
Bay days with him.
He would always stick up for what he felt was right.

And many many more.
R.I.P Uncle
I love you!

Sorry to hear of Greg's passing! I visited him last month, and talked with him on the phone after that! He sounded pretty good! I am glad he no longer has a struggle breathing!
